The International Dark-Sky Association has designated Galloway Forest as the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world. Few people live in the 300 square miles of parkland, so nights really are pitch black. Over 7,000 stars and planets are visible to the naked eye and even the Milky Way is usually easy to spot. At the Gold Tier area you’ll enjoy rare night sky observation conditions and a series of dedicated refreshments as you gaze up at the stars.
